Liam's Book Dream

03-Dec-2025

What better way to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities, than to share Liam's story of his journey to becoming a published author.

Liam lives in Caithness and is transitioning to a home of his own supported by our local team. As part of getting to know Liam, the team wanted to find out about his goals in life and one of the things he told them was that he wanted to write a book.

As a disabled person he wanted to share his experience of living with Cerebral Palsy, and how he hasn't let his impairment get in the way of him living his best life.

His support team were inspired by Liam's drive to do this and supported him to get the project off the ground by sourcing a space through Highland Life (who provide leisure services across Highland) where Liam could write and create. They also helped Liam secure some initial funding to publish his first 50 books.

Writing on the book is almost complete and will be published shortly, with a heartfelt dedication to Liam's uncle who passed away recently at the grand age of 99. Liam was especially close to his uncle and credits him with giving him his determined outlook on life.

Proceeds from the sale of the initial print run will be shared between 2 of Liam's chosen charities - Poppy Scotland and Cerebral Palsy Scotland. And his team are also helping him to raise additional funding to get a print run of 500 copies published.

Naturally, this has given Liam a huge boost and he's now considering college options for courses in IT and photography both of which will support him with his writing.

As is fitting, final words come from Liam himself:

"I'm over the moon about my book being published."
