A group of visitors from the Czech Republic received a very warm Scottish welcome on a recent study visit to find out about transitions and community-based supports for disabled people in Scotland.
The trip was organised through the Scottish Government and co-ordinated by Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership and the Scottish Transitions Forum which is hosted by ARC Scotland.
The group included people with a professional interest in providing social care support, alongside family members who care for disabled relatives. They wanted to learn about providing good person-centred support in community settings as Czechia still has some way to go in terms of moving away from institutional support.
As part of their study tour, they visited our Falkirk North team based in Stenhousemuir where we support a range of people including some folks who are also Key Housing tenants.
The visit was a huge success and everyone enjoyed hearing about experiences from across the two countries. Mind you, our local manager did highlight that the translator worked particularly hard to keep up with the notoriously fast-paced Scottish accents!
Not that this got in the way of an all-round brilliant visit, which was topped off with the visitors received hand-painted stones from the Falkirk North team to remind them of their time in Scotland, as their feedback testifies:
"Key was absolutely fantastic!"
"We learned so much from our visit to you."
Well done to Grace and all the Falkirk North team for welcoming the visitors with such warmth and kindness, and sounds like it was an amazing experience for everyone.
